My name is Dan Schaeffer and I knew that I had found my passion for wine while spending a semester in Grenoble, France during college. After graduating with a degree in Hospitality Administration, I moved to New York City and quickly enrolled in Kevin Zraly’s Windows on the World Wine School. I spent five years working in the wine industry before moving to Austin in 2004 to attend business school and secretly escape the long, cold winters in the Northeast.
After business school I joined Whole Foods Market at its global headquarters and spent two years working as a Private Label Product Manager. I am currently working on the Global Wine & Beer Purchasing team. My favorite wine regions besides Texas include Germany, Alsace and Burgundy, though it was drinking a 1989 Chateau Haut Brion that changed my life.
On this blog, I will provide information about the wine industry in the Lone Star State and bring to light subjects impacting it. I intend to include weekly wine reviews and with a little luck I’ll whet your palate enough to try a bottle of wine that you otherwise would have missed. You can contact me at dan [at] texas wine uncorked dot com to share tasting notes, offer ideas for blog posts, or to just say hello.
Cheers Y’all!
